The short version: some links here earn us a commission, you pay the same either way, nobody pays to be featured, and the canal ring itself is open to anyone who walks it, whether you ever book a cruise or not.

Which links are affiliate links

Every "Check availability" button, and every in-text link that opens a cruise listing, points to GetYourGuide and carries our partner tag. All five cruises featured on this site are sold on GetYourGuide. If you book after clicking one, GetYourGuide pays us a share of the commission it already earns from the operator. Your price is identical to the price you would see going straight to that listing, because our cut comes out of the platform's margin and is never added to your ticket.

That is the whole of it. GetYourGuide is currently the only partner on this site. There is no display advertising, no sponsored posts, no paid reviews, and no hotel or other booking links. If another platform or network is ever added, this page and the footer disclosure will name it before the first link goes live, not after.

The parts of an Amsterdam canal day that pay us nothing

Worth saying plainly, because for some travellers it is the better answer. Amsterdam's canal ring, the Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht, is a public street on both banks, and walking it costs nothing at all. The Reguliersgracht bridges, one of the most photographed stretches in the city, cost nothing to stand on. So does a meal you book yourself at a restaurant along the water. None of that earns us a cent. The one part of the day we can earn on is the boat itself, the low vantage point on the water and whatever is served on board, and where walking the ring is the better call for a given traveller, our answers say so.

Even within the cruises, we lead with what a listing actually shows rather than pushing a number that might not hold. None of the five publishes a fixed price this site could confirm and stand behind: each one prices inside GetYourGuide's own live booking flow, by date, option and currency, so every card here says the price is on the listing rather than carrying a figure we could not verify.

What it does not change

• Inclusion. Every cruise that clears the tests is here: a real, currently bookable Amsterdam canal cruise on GetYourGuide with figures read directly off the live listing. Five listings cleared it, across the cheese-and-wine, standard sightseeing, pizza dinner, formal dinner and evening/sunset formats. See which canal is worth prioritizing on each of them.
• Ordering. No operator can buy a position and none has been offered one. Where a section leads with one cruise, that cruise is chosen on the honest strength of its listing, not on what it pays, and you can check the rating and review count printed on the cards yourself.
• What we say about them. The High-End 3-Course Dinner Canal Cruise, with 114 reviews, sits in the same lineup as the Classic Saloon Boat Cruise with Cheese & Wine, with more than 26,000 (checked September 2026), and the cards print both as they are. The Evening (Sunset) Canal Cruise, a newer listing, carries no rating yet, and its card says exactly that rather than an invented one.
• What we leave out. Where a listing's price is served only inside GetYourGuide's live booking flow rather than as a fixed figure, the card carries no number and sends you to the live listing instead of a converted guess. A price you cannot confirm is not a price, and it would have paid commission exactly like any figure we could confirm.
• Things we earn nothing from. Walking the canal ring for free, standing on the Reguliersgracht bridges, a meal at a restaurant along the water you book yourself. They still get their say wherever they beat a paid ticket, including in our own take on which canal street is the most beautiful to walk instead.

Ratings, review counts and prices

Every rating and review count on this site is GetYourGuide's own published number at the time we checked it. Nothing is averaged, rounded up or invented. Four of the five cruises carry a rating, running from 4.4 to 4.6, on review counts from 114 up to more than 26,000. The fifth is a newer listing that has not yet accumulated a rating, and its card reflects that rather than borrowing a number from elsewhere.

Prices work differently here than on many comparison sites, and it is worth being direct about why. GetYourGuide serves each of these five cruises inside its own live booking flow rather than publishing one flat figure, with the amount moving by date, option and the currency it detects for you. That means none of the five cards on this site carries a price, and the live listing is always the authority on what you will actually pay.

Each listing names the operator that runs it, Flagship Amsterdam, Blue Boat Company, Stromma Netherlands, Rederij Aemstelland or Eco Boats Amsterdam, and every one of these cruises can be found and booked without going through us. We would genuinely rather you got out on the water on whichever cruise suits you. The comparisons, the FAQ and the answers work exactly as well as research whether or not you ever click a booking link.
